Ertso-Tianeti is situated at the upper side of the River Iori vally and belongs to a mountainous region of the East Georgia. It is bordering on Dusheti Municipality in the West and partially- the North, and Akhmeta Municipality- in the North-East and South-West.
Ertso-Tianeti is located on a medium and mountainous relief, with small areas of plains only in the South part, specifically: plains of Ertso-Tianeti and Sioni, at 1100 m. above the sea level.
Iori is the main river of Tianeti, taking its source from a Borbalo Mount at 2800 m. It has a few tributaries, including: the rivers of Khashrula, Sagami, Qusno, Edzevi etc. Iori and its tributaries are fed through the water of snow and rain.
Ertso-Tianeti is versatile in its versatile soil composition and geographical relief. It houses all those species of plants growing in the East Georgia. Natural conditions are inducing for local population to follow agriculture and cattle-breeding.
